Annual St. Jacob's Plant Sale Grows More Funds for ICC!

International Child Care’s eagerly anticipated Plant Sale has been running since 1990.  It is one of several major fundraisers organized by dedicated ICC supporters and volunteers. The 3-day plant sale took place on the Saturday’s of May 30th, June 6th and June 13th at the Antique Market Parking lot on the St. Jacob’s Market grounds. Buyers chose from a wide selection of plants. The sale area was decorated with beautiful shrubs, flowers and fruit trees. Amongst the large variety of potted plants were Weiglas, Irises, Doronicums, Euonymouses, Japanese Maples, Honey Suckles, apple and cherry trees. This year a total of 14 volunteers provided buyers with friendly service and knowledge about the plants.

The group that dedicated their time on May 30th have volunteered a total of  66 years.  We would like to recognize in particular Peter & Laura Neufeld (3 yrs of service), Annmarie Branch ( 4 yrs), Steve & Sandra Beckett (6 yrs), Joan & Luc Guay (9 yrs), Mel Thiesson (12 yrs), Ingrid & John Wiebe (at least 12 yrs), Betty Jackson (14 yrs) and Bill Jackson (19 yrs). We would also like to thank Liz Froese, former Chair of the ICC Canada Board, Lino Mori who donates the  plants evert year, and the many other individuals who volunteered at these plant sales. The sale raised over $21,000! These funds will make a tremendous impact on the lives of many Haitian children. The dedication and committment of our volunteers echo the sentiment expressed by Betty Jackson “We do it for the children of Haiti.” We thank you all for your hard work! May God Bless You!
