The latest reports from Port au Prince, after the devasating earthquake just weeks ago, suggest the struggle to rehabilitate the people of that city is going to be a battle of monumental proportions. Simply clearing away the tons of rubble is a task that would make many a civil engineer lose sleep over.
ICC is currently putting together a 12 month plan to assist people in the best way possible. Though the plan is not complete yet, we know that it will include some more permanent shelters - beside sheets, tarps and tents. It will also include ongoing medical assistance for people that have been injured and are now debilitated in some way. Post traumatic stress counseling will also be an essential service for the thousands that have lost family members, friends and homes.
